★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 1,162 reviews · 11 hours (approx.) · from $59Our pick

Join an English-speaking guide such as Anna, Metro, Luca, or Tota for an 11-hour trip from Tbilisi into northern Armenia. Visit Akhtala, Haghpat, and Sanahin monasteries, stop at Debed Canyon and the Mikoyan Brothers’ Museum, and enjoy a generous homemade Armenian lunch with a local family.

“The day trip to Armenia was arduous and uncomfortable. The van used was old and small, making the long day even longer. We spent as much time getting through the border and on and off the cramped van as we did at the sights. The lunch provided was very good and although the sights we saw were interesting, they were all monasteries. Anna did a good job explaining the history, but the things we saw were not varied enough to be interesting. I would not recommend this trip to others.”

It’s not only the wine you will enjoy on your tour but also all the village views: raw meet sales spots, chuchkhela, fresh bread and cheese, stray dogs and cows near the road. Cacasus mountains view is worth it’s own 5* rating. And the dinner at the local family experience is simply exceptional. Special thanks to our guide Giorgi!”

Taste local wines, meet small-producer winemakers, enjoy a Georgian lunch, and stop at the Signagi walls and Gombori Pass. Hotel pickup, transport, water, and tastings are included.

“Although the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, unfortunately this wine tour was a disaster. It was badly managed and completely off schedule. The operators sent the team to the wrong hotel so they arrived almost an hour late. The car was not comfortable for three adults, the air conditioning barely worked making the car feel like an oven, and the driving was dangerous and wreck-less. Initially lunch was scheduled for 4pm, which is neither lunch nor dinner. We had to cut the wineries down to one instead of three, in order to make it back to our hotel at a decent time, and the driver got very lost on…”

His car was very comfortable, he also provided car seat for our 4 year old son. But the biggest show of the tour is the local vineyard. The owners showed a true hospitality. Not only they explain how they make this "Qvevri" wine, they also prepare a fantastic lunch. They were the most delicious meals and wines we had in Georgia. Our son played with the owners' son, I think he might have enjoyed it more than us :) During the…”

The first stop near the sulphur baths freshened us up after a late arrival to the city the night before, with a fitting portion of soup and chacha. It is good that the stops are relatively spread out, so that you get a good feeling of the city on the way. The trip was a good mixture of sight seeing, food and wine and we liked the fact that we were not rushed between places. Our guide, Captain Z was informative, friendly and easy going and fitted our group really well. A great guidWe surely recommend this tour…”
